Brief Project Description / Summary of Work

  • Proposed Scope of Work – Exterior Accessible Concrete Walkway and Ramp Construct a poured concrete accessible walkway and ramp system to provide a continuous, stable route of travel from the driveway gate to the basement-level entrance door.

The walkway system shall consist of two intersecting concrete pathway sections, each constructed at a minimum width of four (4) feet to support safe wheelchair and walker use.

Walkway and ramp surfaces shall be constructed with gradual slopes and transitions appropriate for safe wheelchair and walker use. Concrete finish shall provide a slip-resistant walking surface suitable for exterior use. Contractor shall ensure positive drainage away from the residence and shall not create areas of standing water along the walkway system.

    Driveway Gate to Walkway Intersection

Beginning at the existing chain-link gate adjacent to the driveway, construct a straight concrete walkway extending from the gate area toward the residence for an approximate distance of 18 linear feet.

The walkway shall be positioned and aligned to ensure that:

    • the gate can be fully opened without obstruction,
    • a wheelchair user can safely approach, maneuver, and pass through the gate,
    • and adequate clear maneuvering space is maintained at the gate entrance.

The transition between the driveway surface and the concrete walkway shall be flush and level, with no vertical lip or abrupt height difference.

    Walkway Intersection to Entrance Ramp

At approximately a 90-degree angle, construct a second concrete walkway section extending from the main pathway toward the basement-level entrance door for an approximate distance of 8 linear feet.

This section shall terminate in a low-profile integrated concrete ramp designed to eliminate the existing single step at the entrance and provide safe wheelchair and walker access to the doorway. Any transition between the ramp and existing doorway threshold shall be flush and free of abrupt level changes to support safe mobility device access.
