Deaf And Hard of Hearing Outreach

In conjunction with the VA Department for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing, the DHOH program provides core services as well as a variety of other services and resources:

Youth Services

Facilitates school and community inclusion for all children and youth with disabilities and endorses a collaborative team approach to provide the needed supports and services for students with disabilities.  Youth Services also includes transition information and planning including the SAIL, Self-Advocacy and Independent Living, program.   SAIL was developed by the dRC for youth in their last two years of high school. ADA Leadership Network

Customized training provided to those directly and indirectly affected by the Americans with Disabilities Act from dRC’s ADA Leadership Network Trainer. Available free trainings, which can be customized to meet your needs, include:

  • Understanding the ADA
  • Getting hired and moving ahead in a job when working with a disability
  • Hiring people with disabilities: Tapping into talent
  • Serving customers with disabilities
  • Reaching individuals with disabilities: Accessibility in Federal, State and Municipal entities
  • Reaching individuals with disabilities: Accessibility in private or commercial businesses
  • Accessible technology in the workplace
  • Accessible websites

Health, Wellness & Personal Growth

Weekly exercise and nutrition classes for people with disabilities and their caregivers.  Tues., 10:30 a.m. to noon. Register with Tennie Gratz, or 540-373-2559 prior to attending.  You can also exercise at home with Tennie with  the following videos:

Additional Services


All of our programs and services are offered free of charge.  We rely on donations and grants to provide services to the community.
