Living independently
often depends on having a housing situation that supports a person in his
or her own home, or a work environment that eliminates barriers to employment.
The disAbility
Resource Center was built to be a community resource. People with
disabilities, family members, Occupational and Physical Therapists, building
and remodeling contractors and others with an interest in universal design
are welcome to visit us to get ideas and resources for home and office
modifications and barrier removal.
Finding accessible
affordable housing in the community is another challenge, and one that
is not easily overcome. Knowledgeable staff can direct you to other
organizations that may be able to help.
At
the disAbility Resource Center, you can:

how to modify your home, work or living environment to make it more "user-friendly"

Find information on
builders and contractors who understand your needs

Find information on
how to obtain financing to accomplish needed modifications

Come see our own offices,
full modified useable kitchen and full modified bathrooms to try examples
of modifications and assistive technology that may work for you.

Get information on
affordable, accessible apartments in the area, and how to pursue rental
subsidies.
